I really wish idols being racist/colorist should have some sort of negative consequences aside from backlash from most international fans. I’m saying this because over the years, we have seen and heard about several idols being racist, colorist, what have you and unfortunately the same routine of 1) someone does something problematic 2) often appropriate backlash from fans and others shamelessly defending their faves 3) nothing done and often the idol doesn’t even bother to apologize despite usually knowing that they have an international fan base. This needs to change if they want their fan base to grow and be more successful. Making fun of someone’s race or skin color is not going to make you more likable. If idols can get kicked out of their companies for dating, swearing or otherwise doing something very minor, they should get kicked out (if they’re repeat offenders) or at least suspended from their activities. But since it’s mostly international fans that are vocal about the racism/colorism in the kpop industry, this cycle of idols not learning their lessons is sadly going to continue if kpop companies can’t take racism/colorism more seriously these days since kpop is now more known to more, diverse people worldwide.
